Caught Making Out
Written by Matthew Brown
On Deminski & Doyle, a local radio show, they were
discussing this very same subject on Friday.
Saturday, Matthew was inspired to write a song about
it. Saturday night, a demo was recorded. This is
that demo. Tongue was planted firmly in cheek through
the whole process. We owe Duane Eddy quite a bit of
respect with this one.
Dress You Up
Written by Matthew Brown. All instruments by Matthew
Brown and Tim Rimer. This song is one of the darkest
songs I think I've ever written, and I think that the
demo conveys the sense of dread and weirdness. This
was the first in a series of songs that I used a lot
of color description in, particularly when describing
my hands ("good-and-plenty box"). I'm messed up. Tim
and I were really getting into some synth-y delay
stuff. I like the guitars. Something about this song
scares me.
Let Your Hair Down
This is another demo from the new Garden Party
sessions that are going on right now. The boys and
girl are trying out new songs and this is one of the
many. All instruments and vocals are by Matthew
except for the Farfisa and Harpsichord which are by
Tim. Recorded on March 24, 2005, as a celebration of
Spring Break awesomeness. Written by Matthew Brown. Cheers!
Robots in Love
Robots in Love (Old Version)
The Evolution of a song
So, I've had kind of a bad week. I've had some stuff going on, and I wanted to get away from some things that I didn't want to think about. I made this. Here for your listening pleasure are two versions of the Garden Party favorite "Robots in Love." The original was recorded in September of 2003, and the new one is much expanded and sonically advanced. Tim came over to the house last night and we came up with some freaky stuff. Do enjoy, please. This is the sound of a man who doesn't want to leave his room for a couple of days. For Beth Talag.
Beautiful Like You
Written by Matthew Brown. This is a song written
right after the completion of the "Pointed at the Sky"
songs. I think it was around Thanksgiving of 2002...
but the demo was done on February 15th 2005. Tim
Rimer added the Keyboard Vocoding in the second
chorus. Matthew did everything else. Then Megan made
pizza for herself, Matthew, and Tim. It was really
tasty- not too burnt, not too lightly done... just
right. Just like the e-bows in the song. Enjoy this
as a late Valentine's Day present.
Jeffrey's Bed
Written by Matthew Brown. This is a somewhat true
story about Matthew and a few of his friends playing
with a Ouija board at a young age and conjuring up the
devil. It turns out it was really Rory Garr's hand.
Anyhow, this song owes third-world debt to the Kinks
for being totally awesome. Enjoy!
Seven Months
Written by Matthew Brown. This is a demo for an
upcoming Garden Party song. This was written very
tongue-in-cheekly for Matthew's girlfriend as she came
back from college. Matthew plays all of the
instruments in this recording.
Connecticut North 95
High Voltage Halloween
Both songs written by Matthew Brown and originally
performed by another band. These are two recent demo
recordings of older songs. One was written in
Connecticut at a Holiday Inn with a parrot and a
mini-golf course and the other was written in his
bedroom on Halloween. Can you guess which is which?
All voices, instruments, and mistakes by Matthew
Robert Brown.
